HC Deb 11 November 1943 vol 393 cc1301-2W
Major Procter

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether any further relaxation has been effected during the last three months with regard to restriction on the export of British branded goods; and whether, in view of the unfortunate consequences which result from the loss of goodwill for such goods in overseas markets, he will take steps to seek further facilities for export at the earliest opportunity?

Mr. Johnstone

I assume that my hon. and gallant Friend refers to proprietary medicines. Since my right hon. Friend replied to his Question on 25th May last, arrangements have been made under which reasonable quantities of these goods may be exported to the Middle East through the normal channels of trade. The traders concerned have been told.
