§ Sir J. GriggA candidate for a postwar commission must have six months' commissioned service on full pay during this war; must be recommended by his Commanding Officer and Brigade Commander; and must be recommended by a Selection Board appointed by the War Office, or in India by the Commander-in-Chief, India. Candidates for technical arms are required to possess certain additional technical qualifications. Candidates are required to possess qualities of leadership, character, and intelligence. Distinguished service in the present war is taken into account, but the weight given to this factor in relation to the qualities mentioned, is left to the discretion of the Presidents of the Selection Boards who are senior officers of considerable service and experience and well capable of assessing the soldierly qualities of candidates.
