HC Deb 30 March 1943 vol 388 c57W
Mr. J. Dugdale

asked the Minister of Information the number of men and women examiners now engaged in the Postal Censorship Department with the number of those within the age groups liable for National Service?

Mr. Bracken

1,588 men and 5,640 women are now employed in Great Britain as examiners in the Postal and Telegraph Censorship Department. Of these, 283 men and 292 women are within the age groups liable under the National Service Acts.

Mr. Dugdale

asked the Minister of Information whether, in the case of new applicants for employment in the Postal Censorship Department, there is now in operation a course of lectures given, and followed by an examination prior to appointments being made; and whether preference is given to applicants who have been discharged from the Forces due to disabilities, or to persons over the age of recruitment for National Service?

Mr. Bracken

The answer to both parts of the Question is "Yes, Sir."
