HC Deb 30 March 1943 vol 388 c40W
Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that uneasiness prevails as to the destination of post-war credits in the event of the person owning them passing away before those credits are due to be repaid; and whether he will make a statement on that subject?

Sir K. Wood

I am not aware of any uneasiness on this subject. I have in more than one answer to Questions emphasised that the taxpayer's right to Income Tax Post-War Credit is not lost on his death but passes to his personal representatives who may deal with it as part of the estate. The position is made clear in the explanatory notes issued with the post-war credit certificates, and in the "Income Tax Quiz." It has also been explained in broadcast talks on Income Tax.
