HC Deb 30 March 1943 vol 388 c46W
Mr. Cocks

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the urgent need of getting supplies to China, the provision of large numbers of transport aeroplanes is being developed and the possibilities of utilising the ancient caravan route from Persia are being considered?

Mr. Law

By arrangement between the United Nations, this is a United States strategic sphere, and the provision of transport aircraft for China is at present the immediate responsibility of the United States. I can assure the hon. Member that every effort is being made to organise and develop land routes to China, including the one to which the hon. Member refers.
