§ Sir A. DuncanThe proportion is 72 per cent. Every effort is being made to reduce this wastage by intensifying inspection of vehicles, by propaganda, and by payments for tyres returned in a retreadable condition. It is now an offence to run tyres with the fabric showing and several prosecutions have been instituted.
