HC Deb 21 July 1943 vol 391 c916W
Mr. Wilmot

asked the Attorney-General whether he will introduce legislation to safeguard the position of married women and their right to accumulated trading surpluses in co-operative societies, in view of the recent court order in the case of Mrs. Blackwell and the Oxford Cooperative Society?

The Attorney-General

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answers given to the hon. Member for West Fulham (Dr. Summerskill), the hon. Member for Central Bradford (Mr. Leach) and the hon. Member for Gloucester (Mr. Boyce) on 12th May. I have nothing to add to these answers except that the case is, as I understand, at present under appeal, and in any event, therefore, the question of the introduction of legislation could not arise at present.
