§ Mr. Tom Brownasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware that a few large colliery companies in Lancashire are dismissing from their employment a number of partial compensation 905W men who are not released from the mining industry within the Essential Work Order, cannot register at the employment exchanges, and are forced to live on the meagre amount of partial compensation they receive; and what steps he is prepared to take to end this state of affairs and have the men restored to their employment in view of the shortage of man power in the mining industry?
§ Mr. T. SmithThe Ministry's regional controllers have been given particulars of partially incapacitated men in their regions who are unemployed. They have been asked, in consultation with their regional boards, to take whatever steps are practicable to ensure the re-employment in the industry of men of this type. I am inquiring into the circumstances described by my hon. Friend, and I will let him know the result as soon as possible.
