HC Deb 21 July 1943 vol 391 cc918-9W
Major York

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he will give an assurance before any Regulation is made scheduling areas in which milk shall be heat-treated that the Regulation will only be applicable in areas in which a rationalisation scheme is then in operation, and where the population exceeds 10,000?

Mr. Mabane

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to paragraphs 26–28 of the Command Paper "Measures to Improve the Quality of the Nation's Milk Supply" to which I have nothing to add at present.

Major York

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether, in areas scheduled under his new Milk Scheme, it will be permissible for parents who prefer raw milk for their children or themselves to obtain delivery?

Mr. Mabane

Yes, Sir, provided their existing retailer is able to supply T.T. or accredited milk but not otherwise in scheduled areas.

Major York

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether the new milk policy involves any different treatment of the existing manufacture of butter and cheese?

Mr. Mabane

No, Sir.
