HC Deb 21 July 1943 vol 391 cc914-5W
Sir T. Moore

asked the Home Secretary whether he is now in a position to state the number of women fire-watchers already fully employed either as house- wives or war workers who will be relieved of compulsory fire-watching by reason of his recent decision making such duties compulsory for aliens?

Miss Wilkinson

I would refer to the answer which was given to my hon. and gallant Friend on 8th July. No statistics such as would enable me to give the information asked for in this Question are available, but when the compulsion of aliens enables the required quota of fire guards for business premises to be made up of men, women will be released for duty in street fire parties.
