HC Deb 21 January 1943 vol 386 cc323-4W
Miss Ward

asked the Minister of Health the qualifying conditions under which a housewife may share in the arrangements which extend the facilities of Ministry of Pensions hospitals and limb fitting services to certain classes of civilians who suffer amputations?

Mr. E. Brown

A housewife is subject to the same conditions as other persons under the recently extended war-time scheme for the provision of artificial limbs on a contributory basis to those who suffer amputation from any cause. The principal condition, as my hon. Friend will see from the particulars which I will send her, is that the woman must be certified to be capable, if supplied with an artificial limb, of carrying on her duties as a housewife.
