§ Mr. W. Brownasked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department how much special leave, paid or unpaid, was taken by the Comptroller-General during the annual leave year 1941–42 in addition to the 44 days' annual leave which he was allowed?
§ Mr. JohnstoneAfter suffering concussion in September, 1940, to which I referred in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Stourbridge (Mr. R. Morgan) on 26th January, this officer was involved in the heavy raid of 16th–17th April, 1941. On that occasion, and whilst he was still under treatment, his wife sustained extremely serious injuries and his home was destroyed. In these circumstances, and with my approval, he was granted 10 days' special leave. Later in the year he was allowed 1½ days' compassionate leave in consequence of the death of his father.
