HC Deb 18 February 1943 vol 386 c1955W
Colonel Carver

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether it is proposed where village greens have been ploughed up in the war to restore them afterwards to pastureland?

Mr. Hudson

In all cases where authorised ploughing of common land (which would include village greens) has taken place, it has been done through, or by, the county war agricultural executive committee as the Minister's agent, after taking possession under Defence Regulation 51. It is a condition of the Minister's consent in all such cases that the land should be reseeded before possession is relinquished.
