HC Deb 04 February 1943 vol 386 c1072W
Sir A. Knox

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will endeavour to improve the service of mails from India as, although some soldiers are known to write from the Assam frontier weekly, their relatives in Britain receive no letters for periods of four months at a time?

Mr. Grimston

My right hon. Friend is making continuous endeavours, in consultation with the Service Departments, to improve the service of mails from India. I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the full statement of the position as regards India (a copy of which I am sending him), given in my right hon. Friend's reply to the hon. and gallant Member for Taunton (Lieut.-Colonel Wickham) on 15th December.
