HC Deb 04 February 1943 vol 386 cc1063-4W
Mr. McKinlay

asked the Minister of Labour whether his attention has been drawn to the surplus labour employed at the General Post Office; and will he take steps to secure alternative employment for the men involved?

Mr. Bevin

I am not aware that surplus labour is employed at the General Post Office. On the contrary my right hon. Friend the Postmaster-General has made substantial releases of staff as a contribution to the needs of the Forces and the general man-power stringency. As regards the second part of the Question, adequate arrangements exist between my Department and the General Post Office concerning the use of such staff as my right hon. Friend is able to release.
