HC Deb 17 December 1943 vol 395 c1820W
Sir L. Lyle

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that soldiers who are operationally employed on the East Coast have not yet been issued with winter underclothing; and whether, in view of the prevalence of influenza followed by pneumonia, he will see that winter underclothing is issued immediately to all troops?

Sir J. Grigg

Winter underclothing is available for any man who applies for it. Large stocks of underclothing are held and I am not aware that applications for it have been refused. If my hon. Friend will send me particulars of any case where they have been, investigations will be made.
