HC Deb 17 December 1943 vol 395 cc1827-8W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will confer with the Minister of Labour with a view to ensuring that poultry keeping is included on the list of trades for training ex-service men in, especially discharged ex-service men who have had some previous experience, since the world shortage of food would ensure that this form of earning a living has an established future?

Mr. Hudson

The outlook for specialist poultry-keeping being so uncertain for some time to come, owing to the severe shortage of feeding-stuffs and other factors, I do not consider that it would, in present circumstances, be in the interests of men and women discharged from the Services to provide them with training for that business.
