HC Deb 17 December 1943 vol 395 c1827W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will make arrangements through the war agricultural executive committees throughout the country that where, owing to military requirements a farmer has to sell livestock, the war agricultural executive committees should purchase the stock at valuation and so save the owner the loss of capital which would be incurred by a forced sale on a bad market?

Mr. Hudson

No, Sir. I could not agree to this. I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave on 2nd December to the hon. Member for Bridgwater (Mr. Bartlett) which explains the present arrangements. That reply would cover similar cases where livestock has to be removed from an area owing to military requirements.
