HC Deb 16 December 1943 vol 395 c1723W
Mr. Hewlett

asked the Secretary of State for Air what special qualifications are possessed by Air Chief Marshal Sir Robert Brooke Popham, for looking after, as president, an undertaking of the magnitude of N.A.A.F.I.?

Captain Balfour

The President of the Council of N.A.A.F.I. is chosen by the Council itself from those of its members who are appointed to represent the Services. The day-to-day business of the Corporation is, of course, conducted by a board of management. I might add that Air Chief Marshal Sir Robert Brooke Popham is well qualified for his new appointment by reason of his long experience both in the Army and in the Royal Air Force and I have every confidence that he will discharge his duties admirably.
