HC Deb 14 December 1943 vol 395 cc1406-7W
Mr. Liddall

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works how many supplies divisions are situated in the London area; the number of men under the age of 40 employed at these depôts; and, in order that skilled men below that age may be released for the shipyards and aircraft production, will he permit the older men who are fit and willing to work overtime?

Mr. Hicks

There are six supplies division depots in the London area; the number of men under the age of 40 employed at these depots is 89—of these 63 are skilled men of whom 36 are unfit for military service. All grades are working overtime. No application for general deferment or for the retention of the men has been made by the Ministry.
