HC Deb 14 December 1943 vol 395 c1408W
Mr. J. Beattie

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the unreasonable level to which the price of houses has risen, he will consider the imposition of a ceiling price based on the 1939 value of house property and take steps to prevent the owners of property from exploiting the homeless at a stage of the war when stringent controls have been imposed in other spheres to prevent inflationary tendencies?

Miss Horsbrugh

The inquiries which my right hon. and learned Friend's predecessor instituted into this Question in conjunction with other Government Departments concerned are proceeding, and he has asked for them to be expedited so that he may consider the whole question. In the meantime I shall be glad to have information about any cases which have come to my hon. Friend's notice.
