HC Deb 09 December 1943 vol 395 c1143W
Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Minister of Labour (1) whether workers in war factories presenting medical certificates showing that they are suffering from phlebitis will be released from their direction to work; (2) whether workers in war factories and mines, presenting medical certificates showing that continuance in their employment will be prejudicial to their health, are released from their direction to work?

Mr. Bevin

Workers are not required to continue in their employment if there is conclusive medical evidence of their unfitness to do so. Where necessary, arrangements are made for an examination by an independent medical referee.
