§ Sir R. Glynasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that persons in the service of the Colonial Office in various parts of the Empire who have returned to this country since the war have, in many cases, been forced to remain here through no fault of their own, awaiting passages to the Colonies until the six months' sojourn allowed by the Board of Inland Revenue has expired; that many of them have had to meet heavy and unexpected taxation out of their savings; and whether steps can be taken to remove this hardship?
§ Sir J. AndersonI would refer the hon. Member to the reply which my predecessor gave to the hon. Member for Oxford (Mr. Hogg) on 27th July last. [Volume 391, No. 95, columns 1412–13.]
