HC Deb 04 August 1943 vol 391 cc2325-6W
Sir Dymoke White

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will arrange for the early supply of a Panther dragline excavator in order to expedite the work of the Hampshire Rivers Catchment Board on the reclamation of land for food production?

Mr. T. Williams

In view of the urgent need for the heavier type of excavators required for the work which is being carried out by the Hampshire Rivers Catchment Board an approach was made to the Kent Rivers Catchment Board, and I am glad to say that that Board have agreed to transfer to the Hampshire Board two Tiger excavators. This is a slightly heavier type of machine than the Panther but equally suitable for the work in hand. I understand that final arrangements are being made for the transfer of one of the machines in the next few days and the second in about a month's time.
