HC Deb 04 August 1943 vol 391 c2325W
Sir L. Lyle

asked the President of the Board of Trade what commodities are exported under licence from this country to Eire; and whether the Irish supply of petrol is drawn from this country?

Mr. Dalton

Details of our exports to particular countries have ceased to be published during the war. In view of her neutrality, Eire cannot expect the same consideration as those who are at war with the common enemy, and export licences to Eire are only very sparingly granted. Under arrangements made by my right hon. and gallant Friend, the Minister of Fuel and Power, a small quantity of petrol is shipped to Eire from this country. The rest comes from the Americas.
