HC Deb 04 August 1943 vol 391 c2318W
Mr. R. Morgan

asked the Minister of Health what steps will be taken, as in the case of drainage works at 43, Howard Street, Derby, to ensure that where the corporation, quoting a low figure, carries out such works against estimates obtained by public tender for a larger sum, no loss on the transaction will be shared by the ratepayers as a whole?

Mr. E. Brown

My hon. Friend does not make clear the precise circumstances in which a loss to the ratepayers is to be anticipated, but, in any event, the matter appears, on the information given, to be one in which I have no control over the town council.
