BrownThe extent to which new housing accommodation whether of a permanent or temporary character can be provided at the present time is governed by the supplies of labour and materials that can be made available. As the hon. Member is aware special action has recently been authorised for the building of a limited number of cottages for agricultural workers in rural areas and for the repair of the more seriously war damaged houses, mainly in urban areas. I regret that it is not possible to extend this provision at the present time.
