HC Deb 29 September 1942 vol 383 c691W
Mr. Woodburn

asked the Secretary of State for War what are the reasons for the use of new weapons of war on small scale invasions of the Continent; whether he is aware of the public's apprehension that we too readily sacrifice the element of surprise by the inevitable presentation to the enemy in these raids of such weapons as the Churchill tank, the Sten gun, etc.; and whether greater secrecy will be observed about new and powerful weapons until they can be used with surprise and effect?

Sir J. Grigg

The type of weapons and equipment which are used on raids on the Continent is a subject that is at all times given careful consideration.
