HC Deb 29 September 1942 vol 383 c694W
Mr. Pearson

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware of the difficulty about Wrings of motor-cars by midwives of the Glamorganshire County Council for urgent calls; that the last Hire Service Order does nothing to improve the position within the ten-miles radius, which is the important radius for mid-wives; and will he consider directing petroleum officers to render a block issue of coupons to medical officers of health, subject to his close personal supervision of their use and being accounted for fully by mileage actually travelled by mid-wives?

Major Lloyd George

The Hire Service Order places no restriction on the use of hire-cars within the radius mentioned by the hon. Member and I have no indication that midwives in Glamorganshire have any such difficulty as the hon. Member suggests. I shall be happy to consider any evidence which he may send me.
