HC Deb 11 September 1942 vol 383 c542W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the demand by local residents, he will relinquish his claim on the 31 new houses standing empty at an address of which he has been informed; whether he is aware that, as these houses have been empty for many months, they are deteriorating, and that this state of affairs is injurious to the morale of people who are unable to obtain houses in the locality; and what steps he is taking to rectify this trouble?

Sir J. Grigg

These houses will be occupied by the Royal Army Pay Corps personnel as soon as a cookhouse and other necessary arrangements for their feeding are completed. I regret therefore that I cannot agree to release them.
