HC Deb 11 September 1942 vol 383 cc544-5W
Colonel Carver

asked the Minister of Agriculture why the Agricultural Improvement Council has held only three meetings since its formation 15 months ago; what standing and ad hoc subcommittees of it exist; what is their membership; and why the meetings of the Council and its sub-committees are confidential?

Mr. Hudson

As I told my hon. and gallant Friend in reply to his Question on 8th September, the reason why the Agricultural Improvement Council has held only three meetings is because its work has been carried but largely by the standing and ad hoc Committees which have met frequently. I am sending my hon. and gallant Friend a list of the membership of the standing and ad hoc Sub-Committees of the Council; as to the third part of the Question, it is in accordance with normal practice that the proceedings of advisory bodies of Government Departments are confidential.
