HC Deb 10 September 1942 vol 383 cc324-5W
Sir R. Rankin

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether, in view of the strain placed upon captains of cargo steamers at sea in time of war, he will further revise the number of forms and returns now required from them during the brief time in port?

Mr. Noel-Baker

As I think my hon. Friend is aware, this question was considered in July, 1941, by a Joint Committee composed of representatives of the shipping industry and of the Government Departments concerned. As a result, the number of forms and returns required of Merchant Navy Masters was considerably reduced. If my hon. Friend will send me any suggestions for further reduction, I shall be glad to have them considered.
