§ Mr. A. Edwardsasked the Secretary of State for War whether he will instruct the officers at a camp, of which he has been informed, that vaccination and inoculation are voluntary for all recruits to the Auxiliary Territorial Service, and that objectors are not to be intimidated into consenting, as has been done in that camp recently; and whether, in view of the ignorance shown by Auxiliary Territorial Service officers on the subject of the right of girls to object to these operations, he will circularise the commanding officers of the Auxiliary Territorial Service on the matter, as has been done in the case of the male section of the Army?
§ Sir J. GriggI shall be obliged if my hon. Friend will send me the names of members of the Auxiliary Territorial Service who are alleged to have been intimidated at this camp, when I will have the matter looked into. The same instructions apply to members of the Auxiliary Territorial Service as to soldiers. In case there is any ignorance on the part of Auxiliary Territorial Service officers, as alleged, the attention of all Auxiliary Territorial Service officers, including the officer commanding the camp in question, will be drawn to these instructions.
