HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 cc2131-2W
Sir C. Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that for some time the Welsh Guards have been marching through Wales and Monmouthshire; and can he state the object of this march seeing that voluntary recruitment is no longer needed?

Mr. A. Henderson

The marches referred to were carried out as part of the necessary training of the troops concerned. Although recruiting was not the object of these marches, I am glad to take the opportunity offered by my right hon. Friend's Question to explain that voluntary enlistment is still active and that considerable numbers of men are entering the Army in this way.
