HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 c2132W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he can give further details of the action of Sergeant Powell, of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, who jumped into a flooded river and saved the lives of soldiers who got into difficulties, and of the life-saving action of Private Sidney Ashley, a Lancashire Home Guard; and whether these men have received any official recognition of their action?

Sir J. Grigg

I am inquiring into these cases and will communicate with my hon. Friend.
