HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 c2134W
Major Kimball

asked the Secretary of State for War whether field allowance is payable to officers serving in Scottish commands for the 12 months preceding May, 1942, in cases where the living conditions during that period were similar to those conditions which now entitle them to receive payment of field allowance and where the articles in War Accommodation Schedule No. 10 were not provided?

Sir J. Grigg

Field allowance is issuable only if the accommodation occupied is completely unfurnished and there has been no change in the conditions under which the allowance is issued. Prior to May, 1942, a quarter was regarded as furnished if any of the articles in War Accommodation Schedule No. 10 were provided. Since May, 1942, a quarter is not supplied with any furniture unless five specified essential articles can be supplied.
