HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 c2139W
Sir L. Lyle

asked the Minister of Health how many parents have paid nothing towards the cost of keeping their evacuated children in billets in the country?

Mr. E. Brown

Figures covering the whole period of evacuation are not available, but returns show that at the beginning of last April approximately 35,000 parents of unaccompanied children then evacuated were paying nothing, either because their means were below the adopted scale or because they were in receipt of assistance.
