§ Mr. Thorneasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Warfare how much of the £415,000,000 paid by France to Germany in the first six months of this year was for the upkeep of the German army of occupation; and whether Holland has to pay for a German army of occupation?
§ Mr. FootThe indemnity payable by France to Germany during the first six months of this year wag about £315,000,000. I have no precise figures showing how much of this amount was spent on the upkeep of the German army of occupation; but I think it is probable that the sum used for this purpose was in the neighbourhood of £100,000,000. Holland also has to pay for the maintenance of a German army of occupation.
