HC Deb 14 October 1942 vol 383 c1650W
Mr. Perkins

asked the Secretary of State for Air why the Reserve of Air Force Officers are not eligible for the Air Efficiency Award?

Captain Balfour

The Reserve of Air Force Officers is composed mainly of ex-regular officers who are ineligible for the Air Efficiency Award because this Award is intended for civilians who undertook voluntary service in peace-time in the non-regular Air Forces of the Empire. Those members of the R.A.F.O. who joined from civilian life and who subsequently transferred to the R.A.F.V.R. with its greatly increased obligations for training are however entitled to count their service in the R.A.F.O. towards qualification for the Award.
