HC Deb 07 October 1942 vol 383 c1232W
Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Minister of Information (1) whether he is aware that information cabled from the United States of America, which is open to the rest of the world, is systematically withheld from the British public; why and on what authority this is done;

(2) why the despatches of Walter Waithman, a "News Chronicle" correspondent in the United State" of America, were censored between 10th September and 21st September, in such a manner as to prevent the British public from reading quotations from American newspapers?

Mr. Bracken

The British censors are not withholding the despatches of Mr. Walter Waithman or of any other American newspaper correspondent from the public.
