§ Mr. AmeryOn 13th August two officers of the Royal Air Force were taken off the train at a station east of Patna by the mob and hacked to death. On 18th September the surviving members of the crew of an aeroplane which crashed at Narayanpur in Bihar were massacred. A statement on the subject was made on behalf of the Government of India in the Indian Legislature last week and reported in the Press, but I have no further direct information.
