HC Deb 26 November 1942 vol 385 c901W
Mr. Riley

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he can give the number of fatal and non-fatal accidents on the roads in Great Britain for the months of October, 1942 and 1941, respectively; and whether he can state the number of licensed vehicles for each of the respective months?

Mr. Noel-Baker

In October, 1941, 857 persons were killed in road accidents, and 17,650 were injured. The figures for October, 1942, were 697 killed and 13,218 injured. It has not been the practice since the war began to publish the numbers of vehicles which are licensed.
