HC Deb 24 November 1942 vol 385 c680W
Major Markham

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the regulations covering temporary release from the Army provide that an officer may not wear uniform from the date of release irrespective of whether civilian clothing coupons are available or not; and whether he will amend the rule to permit uniform to be worn for 14 days after such release?

Sir J. Grigg

An officer released from the Army may not wear uniform but if he has insufficient civilian clothes to dress as a civilian before he can obtain coupons, an application from him to wear uniform in the meantime would be favourably considered.
