asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will reconsider his unfavourable decision with regard to check credit trading and the question of poundage having regard to the extent of this method of purchase and trading in many parts of the country?

No, Sir. I took full account of the considerations to which my hon. Friend refers before I decided to prohibit the charging of poundage on checks. The Order has now been in force since 1st October.
