HC Deb 19 November 1942 vol 385 c525W
Mr. N. Maclean

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that Miss A. Devlin, 239, Langlands Road, Govan, has been summoned to appear before the Glasgow Sheriff Court for failing to go to England on the instructions of the Govan employment exchange; that she worked at the Rolls Royce factory for nearly two years, and having to go off ill for some time was released from that firm in June; that she was then offered lighter employment with the same firm but the Govan exchange refused her the necessary green card, although she is still attending the doctor; and whether he will drop this prosecution and permit her to undertake light essential war work at a local factory?.

Mr. Bevin

Miss Devlin appeared before the Sheriff at the pleading diet and pleaded not guilty and her trial was fixed for 15th December next. In these circumstances I am not in a position to intervene.
