HC Deb 18 November 1942 vol 385 cc363-4W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food what complaints about the working of the bacon and ham branch of the meat and livestock section have been received?

Mr. Mabane

From time to time complaints, diverse in character, have been received about details of the day to day working of this, as of others, branches of control. Such complaints have been few, and have in general, been satisfactorily settled by correspondence or by replies given in the House.

Sir W. Smithers

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food, the names of those who are in charge of the bacon and ham branch of the pig industry; and which of them were connected with bacon factories before the war?

Mr. Mabane

I assume that my hon. Friend intended to refer to the Bacon and am Division of the Ministry of Food. The principal officers of this Division are:

  • Director of Bacon and Ham—Mr. J. Loudon.
  • Director of Bacon Distribution and Deputy Director of Bacon and Ham—Mr. G. Huskisson.
  • Director of Bacon Production—Mr. J. W. H. Taylor.

None of these officers was connected with a bacon factory before the war.
