HC Deb 17 November 1942 vol 385 cc218-9W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the President of the Board of Education whether, in view of the withdrawal of cheap day return tickets and the consequent hardship to students attending part-time classes, he will arrange for some remission of fees to compensate for the extra charge of travel?

Mr. Butler

I am aware of the hardship caused to certain part-time students by the withdrawal of cheap day return tickets and I am asking local education authorities to consider giving assistance where necessary either by the remission of fees in whole or in part or by some payment towards travelling expenses.
