HC Deb 17 November 1942 vol 385 cc227-8W
Mr. R. Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he can make any statement as to the disaster to Pilot-Officer Beurling's bomber while on the way to Canada, in view of the fact that it was carrying 32 people on a trans-Atlantic flight?

Captain Balfour

The R.A.F. aircraft in question was not engaged on a trans- Atlantic flight but on other transportation work. The accident occurred when attempting to land at an aerodrome on the route. A Court of Inquiry has been convened to investigate the circumstances and cause. The House will, I am sure, wish to join with me in expressing sympathy with the relatives of those who lost their lives through this accident.
