Mr. AlexanderThe Ministry of Labour and National Service have recently prepared a pamphlet entitled "The Problem of Absenteeism" which includes a model form for recording absenteeism both involuntary and voluntary in respect of individual workers. This pamphlet has been distributed to all shipbuilding and ship-repairing firms, and my District Shipyard Controllers have been instructed to urge firms in their districts to adopt a system of recording absenteeism which will embody the principles contained in that pamphlet.
