HC Deb 18 March 1942 vol 378 c1518W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he can give any information about the case of Sergeant J. Mackenzie, Scots Guards, the Tower of London, being punished for allowing two guardsmen to escape from their cells in the Tower of London; and how many soldier prisoners are now in the Tower?

Mr. Sandys

Sergeant J. Mackenzie was found guilty of allowing two soldiers to escape from the unit detention room in the Tower of London, and was sentenced to be reprimanded. On the day of the incident there were at the Tower four soldiers awaiting trial and four in detention.
